In 2008 and 2009, the U.P. and upper Michigan experienced severe forest fires. Our property consists of 12 acres composed mostly of Jack Pine trees which are highly susceptible to fire due a short life span. Justin met with all neighbors individually and then as a group to develop an agreeable plan. The landowners chose to harvest all or most of the Jack Pine to halt the fire danger issue. "With Green Timbers help, we were approved for a Management Plan Grant that allowed us to harvest about 50% of the land. We kept the cedar and the wetlands intact, and saved all the oak and pines, harvesting all the remaining species of trees as appropriate. This is already allowing sunlight to get to the forest floor and the regeneration from the stumps is taking place. There will now be food for animals and birds on the property for years to come. "I signed a contract with Green Timber to evaluate our 160-acre property and arrange for a timber sale. 70-80 acres were cut in the winter of 2018/19. Green Timber is a professional company who has a forester on the ground counting the lumber and ensuring that the logger follows the timber plan. Communication was outstanding from start to finish and I received more money than anticipated. The land looked rough after the initial cut, but by the fall of 2020, the forest is already back up 6-8ft. with deer everywhere. The deer had been on a severe decline prior to this due to lack of food, cover and heavy wolf-presence, but now we are seeing an abundance of deer and other wildlife. Green Timber is bonded and offers an extremely professional experience for customers complete with after-care. I know of two people who went with other companies and did not receive any money after their cut due to unprofessional/not-bonded practices. This is unfortunately more common than you would think, so the fee that Green Timber charges is a great insurance policy to guarantee you will receive your money with professional services. I would highly recommend Green Timber if you are looking for a timber plan for your property or to have your timber harvested."

They kept us updated via e-mail throughout the process and we enjoyed the in-person post-harvest tour of the property. They answered all our questions, provided a great overview of the process and results, and helped guide us to every corner of the property we were interested in seeing on the tour.
