This fall, The Keweenaw Invasive Species Management Area (KISMA) organized an event for volunteers to assist in removing invasive plants from The Tech Trails in Houghton. Invasive removals focused primarily on common and glossy buckthorn and Japanese barberry. Using mechanical methods, the volunteers removed this damaging species and put in place preventative measured to prevent their success in the future. The Daily Mining Gazette covered the event in full, which can be viewed at the following here.
